Cat Antics

The last time that I posted a picture of the cat, I got more comments than I have any other time. As you know, I'm not that fond of cats, but I wanted to post some more to see if I will get more comments this time too. It's a test!! These are the many antics of Cam.

Through the Eyes of a Child....My Adult Child

I found these questions and answers here and thought it was such a cute idea. So I got Lacy to answer these questions. I'm going to see if Lynsi will do the same. If you have a daughter of any age, have them to answer these questions about you. I think little girls' answers would be cute too!! Then leave me a comment, so I can go and read yours!! Oh, by the way....I don't appreciate #4 Lacy, but you redeemed yourself on #6!!!

1. What is something mom always says to you?
She always says..."I think you should..." and then whatever she thinks.

2. What makes mom happy?
Her nightly chocolate and milk.

3. What makes mom sad?
When her grandkids/kids are sad/upset.

4. How does your mom make you laugh?
I had to leave this person's answer because it was so true...!
Her early-onset senility is pretty funny. Just kidding mom!

5. What was your mom like as a child?
I don't really know, I've seen pictures and she had beehive hair and glasses...

6. How old is your mom?
Not a day over 30.

7. How tall is your mom?
Probably 5'2"-ish.

8. What is her favorite thing to do?
Take pictures, hang out with the family, read/write blogs.

9. What does your mom do when you're not around?
I'm pretty sure she probably talks to and pets the cat...but she tries to deny that she likes him. I know the truth.

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
Her blog.

11. What is your mom really good at?
Telling people what to do.

12. What is your mom not very good at?
I had to leave this answer as well...
Not meddling in my affairs.

13. What does your mom do for a job?
She's a guidance counselor for grades K-12.

14.What is your mom's favorite food?
Chicken...at least that's what she orders at every restaurant we ever go to...

15.What makes you proud of your mom?
That she went back to school all these years and got her master's degree.

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
Um.....that's hard. I can't think of any...

17. What do you and your mom do together?
We talk on the computer a lot and we shop and go out to eat when she comes to visit.

18. How are you and your mom the same?
We look alike, and I'm sure we do some of the same things, but I will not admit what.

19. How are you and your mom different?
I'm much younger...and I remember things.

20. How do you know your mom loves you?
I just know.

21. What does your mom like most about your dad?
lol.... I don't know....everything!

22. Where is your mom's favorite place to go?
I had to leave this answer too...
Bed, loooolll.
Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Here is my Not Me Monday for the week!!

I did not have a double cheeseburger and fries from McDonalds on my way to Amarillo. Why would I eat something so unhealthy when I am trying to be on a diet. Nope, not me!!

I am not getting impatient with little Jacob. He is obviously not ready to be born yet. He likes it in there. I can wait until he is born and I won't be excited to meet him!!

I did not have to herd cattle yesterday with Tony. I'm not a cattle header after all!! That's just ridiculous!! I didn't hand feed one of them some hay either!!

After not herding cattle, I did not cook fried chicken because it was 8:00 at night and it takes a long time to cook, so I didn't tell the kids to come over and eat. We did not eat at 9:00 because it is a school night and everyone needs to be in bed early.

This morning at school, I did not go to my 4th period class only to find no one there. I then didn't ask the teacher next door if it was 4th period, because I know what time it is. She did not tell me that it was indeed 5th period.......What??? I didn't say, well, where did 4th period go....it's 10:30....and she didn't tell me that no, it is not 10:30, it's 11:30 and that maybe I didn't change the clocks in my office. Well...that was ridiculous because of course I changed my clocks in my office, otherwise I wouldn't have gone to the wrong period for my class. After all....I'm not that dumb!!!!!

That's most of the things I did not do this week. No, not me!!!

Random Thoughts

Here are just some thoughts that I'm having right now.

1. Today is my niece Meagan's birthday. She is 14. Happy Birthday Meagan!!

2. I'll be glad when 6:00 comes today because I will get to see Erynn. She spent the week with her Dad and I haven't seen her since last weekend.

3. Everytime I watch the news it's terrible news about the economy. I always think how lucky Tony and I are to have good jobs. And all of our family members also have good jobs. With the careers that we have chosen, there will always be work for us...my daughters are both nurses and my son works for the prison. The layoffs luckily haven't affected us or this small town much. I know there are people without jobs here in town, but it's not as bad as the rest of the country.

4. Lacy did what I told her to and didn't have the baby during TAKS week!!:) I guess it really wasn't her choice. Little Jacob was not ready.....and he's still not, I guess. Ignacio's friends at Best Buy are having a bar-b-q/babyshower tonight for her. She calls it the Baby-Q!! I think she has everything she needs for the baby. Hopefully this time next week, I'll be posting pictures of him.

5. I need some help. Everyone has cool blog names but me. Mine is boring.....Lana's Blog.....how boring is that. So I need suggestions. Please leave me a comment with a cool name for my blog and I may give the winner a prize!!!

6. Last night Tony took me to K-Bob's to eat. That's a big treat for me because he doesn't like to go out to eat. He thinks that he can make a better steak than anyone. But when I was there, I was sad because I was remembering the times when the girls all went out to eat there every Friday...when we had an hour for lunch. So if you are reading this, Amanda, Neweta, Kelly, Donna, Paula and the Vannoys.....we need to get together sometime and eat at K-Bob's!! Any one else is welcome to join us too!!!

Four-letter Word

If you have anything to do with the school system in Texas, then you know what four-letter word I'm talking about....although it's actually not a word......but yes, it's TAKS. The first round is tomorrow.....TAKS Tuesday. Grades 3, 5, 8, 9 will be taking reading, grades 4 and 7 will be taking writing and grades 10, and 11 and those 12 graders who have not passed yet, will be taking ELA. You have to pass the 11th grade test in four subjects before you can receive a high school diploma. No pressure there!! You also have to pass 3rd grade reading, 5th and 8th grade math and reading before you can move on to the next grade. It's very stressful for these students. They will have 2 other times to try and pass it if they don't the first time.

A lot of people who do not work in the school system think that on TAKS day, the teachers hand out a test and a pencil to every student, then take them up at the end of the day and that's all there is to it Let me assure you, there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes that you may not know about.

At my school I'm the district testing coordinator....lucky me!! My job is to make sure every student is taking the right test, I have to train the teachers on how to give the test, and I have to make sure that we have the right security measures in place...just to name of few of my duties. There is not just one TAKS test...there are several. The regular TAKS, the TAKS-accomodated, the TAKS- modified, the TAKS-Alt. and the Dyslexia bundle. There is also the TELPAS and the LAT. As testing coordinator, I have to be trained in all of these tests so that I can train the teachers. There are students that have to have individual administrations, oral administraions, or small group adminitrations.

The teachers that give these tests are under a lot of pressure. If the kids don't perform well, then it's their fault!! They have been preparing their students since the beginning of school. They have to go to trainings as well and they have to sign more than one oath stating that they will abide by all of the rules and regulations and that they won't help the students with the content, that they won't look at the test before, during or after the administration. If any of these things happen, they can lose their certificates. Luckily that doesn't happen often....and not hardly ever around here. Our teachers.....at my school and in my home town....are very professional and do a great job of preparing and administering the tests.

If you know a teacher, let her/him know that you appreciate what they do. Give them a pat on the back or a word of encouragement.....they will really need it this week!!
