Football and Shopping

For the past few years, my Christmas shopping has revolved around playoff football games. If Childress or Wellington are not in the playoffs by this time, then Tony finds someone who is and we go. He loves to watch good football games, whether he knows anyone playing or not and so does my son. For the past 3 weeks, we have gone to watch Canadian play and win state, and now since Stratford is playing at Abilene, that's where we will be going this weekend. I haven't done any shopping yet because of all of the games, but this time, I don't have a choice. We are staying in Abilene until Monday morning, so that I can shop. Then we will leave Abilene and go to Lubbock for my back doctor's appointment. At least I get to get away for the weekend!!

Random Thoughts

I haven't posted for a while, so here are some things that I am thinking about.

  • I haven't bought one Christmas present so far and I have no idea what to get anyone. That's why I like Thanksgiving better because you just get together with family and eat and have a good time. There is no worrying about what present to buy. I think the meaning of Christmas has gotten lost over the years. Christmas is for kids as far as the gifts go, but nowadays, kids get whatever they want all year round. I think we should take the 'gifts' out of Christmas and just have fun being with family. Don't get me wrong....I love the Christmas season, with all of the decorations and the atmosphere of it all, but I would like to not have to worry about what to buy and who to buy for.
  • My daughter Lacy is having her first baby in March. She is very excited, as we all are. She is a new blogger, so go and check out her blog. www.lacyanne.blogspot.com.
  • I am so glad that I'm not a jr. high girl anymore! I have 7th and 8th grade girls in my office all of the time, upset because another girl was picking on them or that some boy is 'going out' with their best friend when he was her boyfriend the day before. It's never ending. And in a small school like this, there is not a big choice on who your friends can be. There are only 9 7th grade girls and they have every class together, so it's impossible to stay away from the girls that are picking on you. Everything is such a big deal to them.
  • I am looking forward to my 2 weeks off for the Christmas break. I'm afraid that it will just fly by though, and then next semester will be very busy. I'm the TAKS coordinator and I'm sure that's what I'll be doing until after the tests are all over.
  • That's all I have time for now....I have to get back to work and try to make these girls get along.......I'm going to need a lot of luck for that!!

Baby

Have you ever put something up so you wouldn't lose it? Well....I do that regularly, but the thing is, I don't remember where I put it. I did that a few days ago. I had 2 flash drives that I took out of my purse....I remember that part....and I put them up so I wouldn't lose them. I've been looking for a week now for those stupid things!!!! WHERE did I put them??????? I'm going crazy.

On a much better note....Lacy and Ignacio are having a baby in March. We just found out that it is a boy. We are all very excited, especially Lacy. They live in Wichita Falls. He is a supervisor at Best Buy and she is a nurse. I don't know if I'm allowed to tell his name yet. Erick came up with a nick name for him and told Tony. So now they won't quit calling him that and it makes Lacy so mad. They love to aggravate her! Anyway, they call him little Timmy Turner. If you have kids, you probably know who that is. We haven't had a baby around here in 8 years....that's how old Erynn is and she is my youngest grandchild...until March. He will be the first grandchild on the other side, so I'm sure the poor little thing won't get any attention!! We can't wait to see him! Here is a preview.....

Update

Ok, I'm tired of my previous post's headline, so I am quickly going to post an update. I will be back with more later.

  • My bad day that turned into a month finally ended, so I'm moving on. But I must say that during that time, at one point, I had an old refridgerator in the driveway, a new toilet in the kitchen and a new stove on the porch...talk about hick city!! Most of those items are where they belong now.
  • Erick and Erynn played in the super bowl Sunday on the Bobcats team. They lost but did really well.
  • My nephew Jarod plays for the Wellington Rockets and we went and watched him play Friday night. They are undefeated and are the first undefeated team since 1991. We are going to watch their playoff game Friday in Amarillo.
  • I took my counselor's certification test on Sat. at WT. I should have taken it long ago, but I kept putting it off. I think I did ok. There were some hard questions, but I feel good about it.
  • Tony has been wanting a 4-wheel atv for about 2 years. He has looked and looked and he finally decided to buy one. It's a Polaris Ranger and it seats 6 people! It's camoflauge and it's huge! I'll have pictures later. I guess he deserves it.
  • My daughter Lynsi is Dr. Carter's nurse and was just recently selected for Employee of the Month. She really likes the clinic and I think everyone likes her. She is fun to be around and is always in a positive mood.

A bad day that never ends.....

Have you ever had a bad day that went on for days??? Well, that's what I am in the middle of now. It started Sunday when we went to Lubbock. I had to have a proceedure done on my back on Monday morning so we went and spent the night. It rained on us the whole way there. We got there at 7, ate at Cheddars and then I wanted to go to the mall, not realizing it was Sunday and they would be closed. So I dropped Tony off at the motel and proceeded to go to the mall and it was closed. So I was simply going to turn around and go back, but Lubbuck is a stupid town that won't let you just turn around and go back, so I ended up who knows where. It was dark, raining, and there was construction. I was about to get worried. I called Lacy who lives in Wichita Falls, because I knew Tony would be asleep. She was not the least bit surprised that I was lost, because I get lost everywhere I go....just ask my family. I have no sense of direction, but luckily Lacy doesn't have that problem. So she guided me back to my hotel over the phone...after being lost for 45 minutes.

So Monday morning I go to the doctor and they take me back to the proceedure room. They put something cold on my leg and I asked what it was and they told me that they needed to ground me because they were going to use electricity on me.....what????? That didn't sound too good, but they assured me they did it all the time. So I asked if they were going to sedate me and they said yes, but I had to stay awake so that they could ask me questions during the proceedure.....like 'did you feel that 8000 volts of electricity we put in your back'....of course I did. Maybe it wasn't 8000, but it sure did hurt. So that's finally over and I get to go home. The ride was horrible because my back was so sore from all the needles. We managed to stop in Floydada and get pumpkins and then came home. While we were gone it rained.....and our roof has still not been put on from the tornado, so when I walked in the kitchen...everything was wet. I had to clean up that mess with a hurt back.

Today, I didn't go to work until 12. I wouldn't have gone then but we had a very important meeting that I had to go to. It was really hard on me, but I made it through. But my bad 'day' wasn't over yet. I go to cook supper and get something out of the fridge and it's warm....I look in the freezer...everything is melted. So I have to deal with all of that.

If another bad thing happens tomorrow....I'm giving up!!!!!

There is one good thing, though....I get a new refrigerator!!!!
